The Children’s Department, on the lower level of the Abington Free Library, and the Roslyn Library have countless resources, services, and offerings for children and families.

Our staff have developed comprehensive collections, services, and programs for children from birth through fifth grade. We respond to community needs through outreach and partnerships with local schools and organizations.

We are a welcoming, inclusive place for families and children to play, learn, and connect with others.

Children’s Collections

Miss Jessica reading aloud

The Children’s Department and the Roslyn Library have a deep collection of books for children at any stage of reading. Offerings include board books for babies, fiction, non-fiction, easy readers, picture books, magazines, and graphic novels. Whatever your needs, we’ve got you and your young readers covered.

But books are just the beginning—we have Wonderbooks, Playaways, and Read-along book sets, along with DVDs and Blu-rays. We have audiobooks and eBooks available through Libby and hoopla and other Digital Collections geared towards children, families, and educators

At the Abington Free Library, we also offer themed Storytime kits with books, manipulatives, craft ideas, music, and more that are great for preschool teachers, homeschoolers, and caregivers. Our Math kits contain books, activities, and games that make learning new math concepts fun!

At the Roslyn Library, you’ll find STEAM kits for children in pre-K through middle school that have manipulatives, games, and activities.

Search the online catalog for our Storytime, Math and STEAM Kits so you can check one out today!
