Summer Reading

Summer Reading at the Abington Township Public Library

Summer Reading Program

We celebrate summer at the library in a big way! We will have Reading Challenges, programs, and exciting events for all ages, all summer long, at both the Abington Free Library and the Roslyn Library.

Join us for the annual Summer Reading Kick-Off Party at Abington Free Library on the third Monday of June from 4:00-6:00 p.m.! Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to summer!

Don’t miss Abington READS and Roslyn READS, our reading program that connects beginning readers with teen buddies to help build confidence and skills and encourage reading over the summer.

Children’s Summer Reading

We encourage reading progress all summer long. Small incentives are given to celebrate time spent reading.  In addition, we offer ways to enjoy art, music, science, and adventure in the library, in the community, and at home.

In the summer, register at the Abington or Roslyn Library for summer reading by completing a brief registration form. Your child will receive a paper log where they can record their reading progress all summer long and win free books and prizes! Children's Summer Reading is for pre-school through entering fifth grade.

Find Children’s Summer Reading programs on our Events calendar.

Teen Summer Reading

Teens entering grades 6-12 are invited to join the Library for our Summer Reading Challenge! Download the Beanstack app or click this link to get started. Log reading, attend programs, and you can win prizes! Plus, earn free books all summer long. Prizes include gift cards, Squishmallows, and more!

Stay tuned for more information about Abington READS! 2024.

Adult Summer Reading Challenges

Participate in Adult Summer Reading through Beanstack. Writing and reading reviews is a great way to see what others in your community are reading and to share your book recommendations. The programs also feature tie-ins across our collections, so patrons can discover all the things the library has to offer. Try finding a movie on Kanopy that links to the book you’re reading, borrow one of our museum passes to learn more about the non-fiction topic you’re investigating, or check out a horror book for the first time! Sign up now!
